My name is Russell and I'm a faculty member at the University of Toronto's Jackman Institute of Child Study and Humberside Montessori School, and a Folk Music Ontario-winning children's musician - and I'd like to invite your school to join in a FREE livestream concert Tuesday, April 26th at 1:00pm EST.

The highly interactive kids show will be 45 minutes long and feature special guests John Showman and JUNO-winning and GRAMMY-nominated artist Ken Whitely to sing songs alongside me that focus on kindness, community, and mental/physical/emotional health.

The songs are from my second album, Together, and all have positive outcomes that best connect with kids from SK to Grade 3. Think: even though there may be trouble on the way - even if a cat was chasing a mouse, or you're in a bad mood - everything will work out. Many curriculum expectations are covered in this performance, and I can provide resources in the form of activity sheets, sheet music, lyrics, etc.

Many Ontario curriculum expectations are covered in this performance. It celebrates community through music and explores a variety of musical styles such as folk, pop, beatboxing, rock, and fiddle music. Students develop musical literacy through singing, moving, and actively listening.

Children will develop an appreciation of music by being active participants in this concert and hopefully, this will contribute to their lifelong enjoyment of music.

If you are interested in attending the concert, please RSVP to info@russellsproutmusic.com with the name of your school, teacher's name(s), grade(s), and how many students will be watching so I can give your school a shout-out and keep a record of who will be in attendance.

The secure link will be provided with your RSVP, but for prep and approval I can share that it'll be hosted on thatchannel.tv

The music for this performance is funded by the Recording Industries Music Performance Trust Fund in cooperation with Local 149, Toronto, Canadian Federation of Musicians. Thanks to Hugh Reilly & ThatChannel for hosting our live streams.

If you haven't met Russell Sprout yet you are in for a fun surprise! You may find him on stage with all sorts of cool instruments and props, often wearing the strangest things. Maybe you will see him in a music video or in a classroom teaching music. You see, music for Russell Sprout is a lifelong passion. He has been performing in bands and playing solo shows since he was a kid himself. When he is not composing, practicing, or performing, Russell Sprout is teaching music. He has had many private students over the years. Russell Sprout aka Russell Leon is the music teacher at The Jackman Institute of Child Study (OISE) and at Humberside Montesorri school.

Russell Sprout loves music of all sorts. His concerts will have a mashup of many musical styles from folk to rock to beat boxing electronica to... you never know! Some of his songs are funny, some are serious, some are clever and some are silly. "Get up and Move!" That's Sprout's motto.

Did you know that Russell Sprout received an award for the best Children's song from Folk Music Ontario? Did you also know that the producer of Russell's second record is Grammy nominee and Juno recipient Ken Whiteley? If you don't already know this Canadian legend, Ken is a master songwriter who has worked with so many great musicians like Fred Penner, Raffi, and so many others. Russell Sprout's sophomore album Together is a catchy collection of songs with lessons of tolerance and kindness, inspiring positive messages for young, growing music lovers. The patriotic "Here I Am In Canada" embraces our land, cultures and traditions that unify us as a nation. And while good for the soul, other tracks like The Health Hustle and The Best Day help the mind and body by encouraging children to get up and move and empowering them to understand their emotions.
